Sometimes "more insulation" is the wrong answer. If your existing insulation is water-damaged from an old roof leak, contaminated by rodents, soot-covered from a furnace puff, or so settled it's lost most of its R-value, covering it up just locks the problem into your home. Insulation removal is the unglamorous but critical first step toward a healthy, efficient attic.

Many removal jobs are paired with a full attic reset: vacuum-out, basic attic cleanup, baffles where needed, and new blown-in insulation to the target R-value.
Most attic removal jobs run $1.50 to $3.00 per square foot depending on insulation type, depth, and contamination level. Vermiculite or asbestos-containing insulation requires a specialty abatement provider. We'll refer you and do the install once they're done.
Sometimes, if the old insulation is dry, clean, and uncompressed. If it has any of the issues above (water, rodents, mold, soot), removing it is the only way to actually solve the underlying problem.
No. We use a commercial insulation vacuum with containment and dust-control practices that draw insulation directly from your attic into sealed bags. Nothing gets carried through your living space. We protect the attic access and floors with drop cloths.
Schedule a free assessment. We'll inspect your attic, photograph any contamination, measure the existing R-value, and tell you honestly whether removal is needed, or whether we can over-blow on top.
