Insulation Removal.
Out with the old. In with insulation that actually performs.

Sometimes "more insulation" is the wrong answer. If your existing insulation is water-damaged from an old roof leak, contaminated by rodents, soot-covered from a furnace puff, or so settled it's lost most of its R-value, covering it up just locks the problem into your home. Insulation removal is the unglamorous but critical first step toward a healthy, efficient attic.

  • Eliminates trapped moisture, mold, and pest contamination
  • Restores proper attic airflow
  • Establishes a clean baseline for new insulation
  • Improves indoor air quality (a lot)
  • Clears the way for a clean, warranty-backed new install

When you need insulation removal

Remove and replace packages

Many removal jobs are paired with a full attic reset: vacuum-out, basic attic cleanup, baffles where needed, and new blown-in insulation to the target R-value.

How our removal process works

  1. Containment. We protect attic access, hallways, and any rooms in the path with plastic and drop cloths.
  2. Commercial vacuum. Commercial insulation vacuum system with containment and dust-control practices. Insulation is drawn from the attic into sealed bags. No buckets, no airborne dust through your living areas.
  3. Hand-clean. We hand-clean what the vacuum can't reach: corners, around equipment, behind chimneys.
  4. Sanitize (when needed). Rodent or mold contamination triggers a sanitation pass with appropriate cleaners.
  5. Disposal. All bagged material is hauled away in our truck. We don't leave anything in your driveway.

Pricing & timeline

Most attic removal jobs run $1.50 to $3.00 per square foot depending on insulation type, depth, and contamination level. Vermiculite or asbestos-containing insulation requires a specialty abatement provider. We'll refer you and do the install once they're done.

FAQ

Insulation Removal questions, answered.

Can't you just install new insulation on top of the old stuff?

Sometimes, if the old insulation is dry, clean, and uncompressed. If it has any of the issues above (water, rodents, mold, soot), removing it is the only way to actually solve the underlying problem.

Will the removal make a mess in my house?

No. We use a commercial insulation vacuum with containment and dust-control practices that draw insulation directly from your attic into sealed bags. Nothing gets carried through your living space. We protect the attic access and floors with drop cloths.

How do I know if my insulation needs to be removed?

Schedule a free assessment. We'll inspect your attic, photograph any contamination, measure the existing R-value, and tell you honestly whether removal is needed, or whether we can over-blow on top.
